ART-DECÓ

Art Decó appeared during the first world war and it is  characterized by luxurious materials and geometrical and natural elements.

It mixes all the modern artistic vanguards with luxurious materials, above all chromed elements and mirrors.

This kind of style is influenced by other artistic tendencies, such as Art Nouveau, Cubism or Futurism; besides an exotic touch and refences to Egyptian and Oriental art. 

Art Decó main characteristics:

1-      Abundance of geometrical shapes, straight lines, zig zag lines and symbols of sun.

2-      It wants to represent the movement and the dynamism of the industrialized society trough geometrical abstraction, inspired by the machine and the nature, such as brilliant  rays, aquatic flows, etc.

3-      The animals represented are generally the most exotic and the fastest one. So, it is common to represent  coursers, panthers, gazelles, etc.

4-      In stead, the nature is represented by flowers and palm trees...of course designed with geometrical lines.

Minimal and Art Déco, the new tendencies

The tendencies in matter of design and decoration are constantly in change. All the styles that are protagonists during this second half of the year 2017, will be popular also in 2018. They are characterized by modern elements mixed with mid-century trends, minimal style and Art Decó.

If you want to give to your house a touch of Art Decó you can add some objects and elements (just avoid weighing down the room) with geometrical tendencies typical of the ’20.  You can choose elegant elements with a geometrical touch, in order to create a visual efect in which the main references are all the golden metals, exotic wood and mirrors, no matter if you prefer to hang them or if, on the contrary, they are integrated to a forniture. A mirror with a golden frame is perfect to create the Art Decó touch we are talking about.

Materials

For the realization of sofas, armchairs and puffs the main material is velvet or leather, for their softness and colors.  For the pillows it is better to choose silk or croquet. All the golden and brilliant elements are well accepted.

Colors

The black is essential, and even more essential is its combination with gold, silver and white in order to recreate a glamour effect. It also represents elegance and seriousness. Use it for the forniture, the table, the chairs and all the other accesories.  The chocolate brown is, in stead, used to create a more warming athmosphere.  If you prefer more neutral and lighter colors you can use the beige. Finally, create a contrast using green, light violet and dark rose tones for the little accesories.

Art Decó is characterized by some geometrical shapes that influence in a particular way the creation of forniture. For this reason, they present simple lines and modern figures. You can choose ostentatious materials, such as chrome and exotic wood. Another typical characteristic is the abundance of mirrored forniture. The secret consists in choosing the biggest and shocking models.

Pay attention to the pieces you want to include in your home decoration and remember that the main elements are leaves, feathers, geometrical shapes, peacocks and panthers.  Don’t forget to add huge golden mirrors and some golden, geometrical photoframes.

For the floor you can use big geometrical carpets according to the symmetry or the marble of the floor.
